DESCRIPTION: This fox sculpture comes from Itaya-zaiku, a traditional folk craft of Kakunodate in Akita Prefecture.
It is carved from Itaya-kaede (Japanese maple), a wood known for its flexibility and strength.

With minimal carving, the natural texture of the bark is left visible, giving the fox a simple yet striking presence.
Though rooted in the tradition of regional folk toys, its understated form carries a quiet, modern sensibility.
